Time To Cut The Lines

It has arrived!  The time to cut the lines and sail off for an adventure.  We have spent the last 3 years to getting ourselves and the boat ready or this next adventure.  It is time to hang up working and managing EMT's and Paramedics.  After 24 years it is time to move on to new challenges in my life.  Carol will keep her dental hygiene license for possible part time work in the off season.  This year I got my Masters Captains license near coastal with sailing endorsement, so I have already found a gig in the USVI.  We will be in middle of prime cruising grounds.  During hurricane season we will spend our time down south in the Grenada area.  We will also be able to fly back to our land base family to visit for the holidays.

The plan is to leave Texas out of Galveston off shore to Port Arthur.  Then a jump from Port Arthur to a point east of NOLA.  We will then coastal cruise along the gulf till we reach Key West.  At this point we will make the jump from a strategic starting point to the Exumas.  Island hop down this Archipelago till we reach Nassau.

We will follow the Thornless Pass to Dominican Republic, South Coast of Porto Rico, then over to the USVI.  Once we arrive our base will be in the Red Hook area.  From here we can be in the BVI's, St. John's with a mere half day sail or jump over to St. Croix in a day.  The captain's gig is out of Red Hook, so this is why we choose this as our base.

From this point it is all Hands on deck to get the boat ready for the trip.  Some last minute projects, provisioning, and saying good by to our friends here in Texas.  We will make a Great Loop style trip up to Arkansas then down to Louisiana to visit family.

We hope that family and friends will take advantage of having a cheap vacation in a very exotic location.  That they can see why we choose to live on our boat Imagine.  Some very simple rules to visit.  You are allowed 1 small soft collapsible bag for yourself.  You will also mule a bag of supplies we will have delivered to your home prior to the visit.  This is needed because some items are just extremely expensive.  On the positive side, good rum is only $7.96 a bottle.

Once we leave the dock we will post more regular post to sho the progression of the journey, and the sights we see along the journey.
